Kisa’s first visit to Uganda – bringing safe water to Nakaseke

In October we travelled to Nakaseke to work with Pastor Sam and his team. The focus of this trip was to celebrate the launch of Kisa as a new charity and to provide 100 water filtration kits for the school, families and local community.
This initiative was undertaken in conjunction with Amor Pure Europe who trained the UK team and provided 50 filter kits. The simple system is extremely effective and will remove 99.9999% of germs and bacteria from any water source. The filter does not use chemicals and with easy maintenance will filter 2,000 litres of water a day for over 15 years!

Photographed above is Pastor Sam with the water filter system. It is a simple two bucket system. Dirty water is poured into the top bucket and passes through the filter into the bottom bucket which has a tap for ease of use. The stand was made by a local carpenter who now has some extra income from making these for the community.
Along with the water filters the team in Uganda have also been promoting health and hygiene through the use of tippy taps to provide convenient hand washing facilities.
Below is a photo of Daniel Kandeke, who is in charge of Kisa’s development work, demonstrating how to use the tippy tap at the school. Daniel will also be revisiting all the households with filters to assess the impact and ensure it is being well maintained.

A Party to Celebrate the Launch of Kisa With a generous donation and a passion and love for the children, they enjoyed a full day of music, dance, face painting, food, soda, cake and sweets. The photos below are from the day and will be remembered for some time to come!
